Podcast

From the Gran Canarian Tourist Patronage, we have applied the use of podcasts to the tourist sector, with the aim of making your stay more interesting and providing you with a detailed guide for your walks in Gran Canaria.

Downloading the Podcast

The process is as simple as:

Accessing the Podcast section of our web page

Choosing the places you would like to visit

Listening to and/or downloading the podcasts to your computer

Copying them to your (mp3, mp4, mobile phone, ipod...)

Once you are at the location of your choice, all you have to do is simply play the Podcast back whilst taking in your surroundings...

Subscribing

Another option is to subscibe to one of our “feeds” in order to remain informed about any change in our routes. Your feed reader will inform you automatically of any variation, as well as synchronising the podcasts with your mp3 player.

There are various free feed readers on the market:

iTunes

www.apple.com/en/itunes/

Juice

http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/

Google Reader

http://www.google.com/reader/

There are two ways of adding our feed to your player:

Automatically (with iTunes installed)

By clicking on the links “Subscribe with iTunes", which you will find at the bottom of our ‘Podcast’ page on the website, you will be able to automatically add the Podcasts to your feed reader.

Manually

If you are not able to facilitate the automatic method, you can always subscribe manually.

Generally, the process is as simple as copying the address of our feed, which you will find at the foot of each route, and adding it to the chosen software. Firstly, choose a route from our webpage (www.grancanaria.com) and copy the Podcast address. You will be able to identify it due to the following icon.

iTunes

Select the “Advanced” tab (at the top of the screen), then choose the option “Subscibe to a podcast…” in the drop-down menu, where we will then paste the address of the chosen podcast.

Once this has been done, we will have the chosen podcasts available from the Podcast icon found to the left of iTunes.

Juice

Select the “Tools” tab (at the top of the screen), then choose the option “Adding a source”, where we will then paste the address of the chosen podcast.

Once this process is complete, we will have access to the chosen route by means of the “Subscriptions” tab.

As defined by wikipedia, "podcasting consists of creating sound files and distributing them via an RSS file in such a way as to allow for the subscription and use of a download program so that the user can listen to these sound files whenever required. Generally on a portable player."
